Patient information

Arriving prepared makes the visit better

A short guide to your appointment — what to bring, how the visit runs, and the questions patients ask most often.

What to bring

  • A photo ID and your insurance card
  • A list of every medication and supplement you take, with doses
  • Any recent test results, ECGs or imaging from another practice
  • The name and contact details of your primary care physician
  • A written list of the questions you want answered

When to seek emergency care

Call 911 immediately for chest pain or pressure, severe shortness of breath, fainting, or weakness or drooping on one side of the body. This website and our office phone line are not for emergencies.

For non-urgent questions during business hours, call (214) 295-6559.

Common questions

Do I need a referral to see a cardiologist?

Many patients come by referral from a primary care physician, and some come directly. Whether a referral is required depends on your insurance plan, so call the office and we can check before your visit.

How long does a first appointment take?

Plan for a longer visit than a routine check-up. A first cardiology appointment includes a full history, an examination, and time to discuss findings — and testing may be added on the same day.

Should I stop my medications before testing?

Never stop a heart medication on your own. Some tests do require a temporary change, and if that applies to you the office will give you specific instructions in advance.

What should I do about chest pain right now?

If you have chest pain, pressure, severe shortness of breath, fainting, or symptoms of a stroke, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for an appointment and do not drive yourself.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Please call the office to confirm coverage for your specific plan before your appointment. We do not list plans here that have not been verified.
